As “The King of Swing”, Benny Goodman and his Orchestra got the Era off to a start when they appeared at the Palomar Ballroom. Just a couple of years later, he became the first Jazz-band leader to play Carnegie Hall. It was quite a step up from the remotes he was doing at the Manhattan Room at the time.
