After the big show at the Palomar Ballroom when Benny Goodman and his Orchestra kicked off the Swing Era in 1935, he was finally able to pay the bills on a regular basis thanks to a gig on Chicago radio as the “Rajah of Rhythm” on The Benny Goodman Show.
