Title | : | phil silvers |
Air Date | : | 10.07.1954 |
Plot | : | + This show was devoted exclusively to recruiting dollars for the Third War Loan. And for that reason the show was “Coming in on a Wing and a Prayer”, thanks to Bing Crosby, John Scott Trotter and his Orchestra, The Music Maids and Hal and the Charioteers. The guest star to help with the war bonds drive was that up and coming 20th Century Fox comedian Phil Silvers, or you may know him now as that disciple of discipline Sergeant Bilko. Good to hear such old melodies, as “We’ll be dancing the Victory Polka” Bing’s guest spot this week is taken up with a welcome return visit of Phil Silvers. Add to those two, the usual comical cast and you have the makings of a very good show particularly if you like to hear such songs as “Swing low Sweet chariot” and “The way you look tonight”. Phil Silvers is back again, Marilyn Maxwell makes her fourth consecutive appearance and once again the show is full of laughs and good music. Bing makes certain that the show rolls along in its usual easy going way and the rest of the cast follow suit. |
