Spoiler : I have loved Fats Waller since I was a teener. And just imagine, at the time of this broadcast, Fats had only a few days to live. This was recorded in Los Angeles on December 4, 1943.while he was appearing at the Florentine Gardens in Hollywood. He died of pneumonia on the train on the way back to New York on December 15. What a great loss. He was only thirty-nine. His manager wrote of him, "when I look back on those war efforts of his, I think it can safely be said that Fats was indeed giving his life for his country."
