Broadway, so called because Broadway seems to be his only home, knows all the guys and dolls and they know him. One night he is sitting in Mindy's restaurant on Broadway taking in some Hungarian goulash when in comes some guy who is a stranger to him and sits at his table. It turns out later that he becomes known as Tobias the Terrible and how that comes about is told in this story. "Maybe you know a guy we know by the name of Sorrowful Jones. He makes his living by making book, that is to say he is slightly illegal because he takes bets on the horses if one is not able to get to the track due to circumstances. Most of the guys and dolls along Broadway think that Sorrowful is a rich man. That is true because Sorrowful not only remembers the first nickel he makes as a boy but that the same nickel is still in his possession. All at once Sorrowful is a changed man". And all because of Little Miss Markey. Sit back, listen and enjoy the story that Broadway tells us. |
