She was a treasure to the Philadelphia Flyers. They often play a film of her singing God Bless America at a Flyers game in the 70s rather than the National Anthem. I cry every time I see it.

Had the pleasure of working w/Miss Smith when she appeared on the Donny & Marie variety show pilot in the 70's. Of course she sang "God Bless America." I'll never forget how stirring it was

I did the detailed history of the song God Bless America and her introduction of it. What is ironic is that she is not remembered for anything but this song. She sang hundreds of songs, was on radio and TV for over 4 decades, but is not remembered for anything else.
