Title | : | red indian little theater |
Air Date | : | N/A |
Plot | : | + Program #2. An unusal series of programs, having nothing more to do with "The First Nighter Program" dramatic series than the title and the program opening, which is a satire of the drama show's opening. "Good Evening ladies and gentlemen. This is your friend, 'The Last Nighter' again, speaking from, 'The Red Indian Little Theatre' ("Just off Times Squaw")." In addition to pun-filled dialogue and musical ditties accompied by a piano, recorded music by Jimmie Grier and His Orchestra is played. One of the characters is named, "Joe Twerp" (who was a real entertainer, known for his spoonerisms), and he might be on the program. The two comedians may also be Ken Gillum and Duke Atterbury, who did a similar kind of comedy. The female foil is called, "Annie." To further confuse the identities, the two comedians also do several routines as, "Oscar and Elmer," rube comedians. The music dates the program between 1935 and 1938, one of the shows feature The Mills Brothers (billed as "The Five Jones Boys"), which points to possible Transco syndication. The program closings are not heard. The first tune on this program is, "My Shawl," played by Jimmie Grier and his Orchestra. |
