Admiral Yarnell's report cannot be heard due to signal failure from Shanghai. Instead, Rear Admiral George Meyers is heard from Manila. He gives the current positions of several of the major naval units. Admiral Harry Lackey is heard from the Mediterranean. The Admirals speak to each other by shortwave radio. Admiral Ernest King broadcasts from "The Flying Dreadnaught." Admiral King sounds either very nervous or inebriated. A simulated attack on the Naval Air Station in Washington is broadcast. Power dives and roaring engines are heard. An actual submarine rescue, using a Munson Lung, is a broadcast first and makes for interesting listening.
