This collection is a document of a renaissance in the career of Frank Sinatra

Whether "Strangers In the Night," "My Way," "Me and My Shadow," "Mr. Success," or "Theme From New York, New York," we all have our favorite Frank Sinatra songs, or at least a few that share the warmest space in our hearts.

We all know that Old Blue Eyes's career spanned decades, and that he spun out many colossal hits in the 40's and 50's. But if you're not an active Sinatra historian you may have a hard time with those long-ago details of what happened when. Sinatra rose to the top of the pops in the late 30's and early 40's, becoming a superstar. Then, he parlayed his singing success into roles in some pretty big films and was known to everyone in the English-speaking world. But at the end of the 40's his sales and popularity were waning just a bit. To make matters worse, in 1950. he suffered a hemorrhage of his vocal cords while performing.

In 1952 he was dropped by both Columbia and MCA, and there would be a bit of a starting over. 1953 was quite a year for the Chairman of the Board. In this year, he starred in From Here to Eternity, for which he snagged an Oscar; signed with Capitol Records; starred in an NBC radio show Rocky Fortune and hosted another show, To Be Perfectly Frank.

To Be Perfectly Frank was a fifteen-minute program that aired for about a dozen episodes in the fall of 1953. Frank played a role that will be delightful to today's collectors, that of guest DJ, spinning the big hits of the crooners of the day. He also performed some of his own hits.
