The diamond earrings were the only things his mother had ever owned and Lee wanted Hattie to have them. Now Quince is in her part of Texas but when he drops in he discovers she is not there and her home unlived in. He fears she may have died until someone turns up at the Fort hospital claiming to be his mother. |
