This is the first show of the program's fourth season on the air, despite the announcement by William Conrad that "Gunsmoke is going into its second year on radio." After hearing that his father had dies Briscoe Cass has come back to Dodge last week after leaving home 16 years ago. Jerry thinks that his brother had come back to look after him but Jerry is now 25 years old and doesn’t need looking after. But it seems Briscoe has an ulterior motive for coming home. |
