| Plot | : | + When a trail boss objects to Marshal Dillon's peacekeeping methods, and the town's merchants ask him to ease off, Dillon vows to make no further arrests. The town then hires an unusual "constable" to keep the peace. The script was used on the program again on March 20, 1960 and on the Gunsmoke television series on May 30, 1959. Matt Dillon had locked up 5 cowboys the previous night for been drunk and disorderly but the leader, Rance was not too happy about their “welcome”. He suggested that if Dodge wanted their business he had better let them so as they please. When the business men of Dodge get together they ask Matt Dillon to go easier on the cowboys for fear of loosing business, Matt Dillon warns them that they are being fools but agrees he won’t arrest anyone else in Dodge. A hard lesson is learnt by the businessmen of Dodge. |
