Title | : | tribal new year celebration |
Air Date | : | 12.31.1936 |
Plot | : | + KMTR, Los Angeles. "New Year Celebration". Sponsored by: The Forman Loan Company. A New Year's program presenting an "Indian Village" of 500 years ago. The show features twenty real Indians. Present are Chief Thundercloud of the Cherokee and Chief Big Tree of the Iroqois. Big Tree is introduced as the model for the famous scupture by James Earle Fraser, "End Of The Trail." Mr. Callahan introduces Iron Eyes of the Cherokee. "Iron Eyes" is possibly "Iron Eyes Cody," who had been making films in Hollywood since 1927 (despite his Italian background and real name of Espera DeCorti). One might doubt the authenticity of his chanting. Shooting Star, a Sioux and the only living grandson of Sitting Bull. A song of the Cheyenne Sweat Bath. The Cherokee Love Song. The date is subject to correction. |
